Effective October 3, 2026. Applies to the Ready & Rooted website (https://ready-and-rooted.pages.dev), the installable web app, and the Android app on Google Play (package app.readyandrooted).
Short version: Ready & Rooted has no accounts, no ads, no cookies, and no tracking or advertising SDKs. It does not sell or share personal data. Your location and settings are saved only on your device. The app sends anonymous counts (for example, "one visit") to its own server, and these never include who you are or where you are.
To learn whether the app is useful, it sends a small anonymous event when one of these happens: a visit, an app install, an app launch, a Bible translation download (which translation), or a language change (which language). Each event contains only the event type and, for the last two, a translation or language code. The events go to a small counter that runs on our host (Netlify) and only adds them to daily totals. The totals are public at /stats.
Location is optional. You can turn on location or type a place name, and the place you choose is saved only on your device. Ready & Rooted's server never receives your location. To show information for that place, your device contacts these public services directly:
| What the app does | Sent directly from your device to |
|---|---|
| Weather and emergency alerts; naming the nearest town and county | U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov): your saved place's coordinates |
| Place search (only when you type a search) | OpenStreetMap Nominatim, with Photon (komoot) as backup: the text you typed |
| Topographic map | USGS The National Map, and OpenTopoMap if you choose that layer: map tiles for the area you view |
| Local news and earthquakes | Google News RSS and the GDELT Project (your town or county name), and USGS earthquakes |
These are standard web requests. Each service handles them under its own privacy policy, and none of them receives any account or identity from Ready & Rooted. If you turn on alert notifications, your device checks the National Weather Service in the background for your saved place, and notifications are created on your device.
The app stores your chosen place, language, reading position, voice settings, downloaded Bibles, and offline map tiles in your browser or app storage on your device. To delete all of it, clear the app's or site's storage, or uninstall the app. Nothing about you is kept on our server, so there is nothing for us to delete.
There are no ads and no in-app purchases. The app contains no analytics, advertising or social-media SDKs. The Android app is a Trusted Web Activity: it opens this website in your device's browser engine (usually Chrome), which handles web traffic under its own privacy policy. The website version shows an optional PayPal donation link that opens PayPal's site, and the Google Play version does not show it.
The app is hosted by Cloudflare Pages (earlier copies were hosted by Netlify). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the pages, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not use that information to identify anyone.
The app is a general-audience safety and reference app. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Questions: desacc26@gmail.com.
